Knipex TubiX vs Stanley: which pipe cutter fits your job?
Two different cutters from two stores serving Ireland. This compares published retailer specifications, not our own hands-on tests. Neither is a universal winner.
| Check | Knipex TubiX 90 31 02 BK at ToolFix | Stanley adjustable cutter, McMahons code 53749 |
|---|---|---|
| Stated pipe diameter | 6–35 mm; up to 2 mm wall thickness | 3–22 mm; wall thickness not specified on the retailer page |
| What the retailer describes | QuickLock, integrated deburrer and spare cutting wheel | Adjustable pipe cutter; suitable pipe materials not clearly specified on the retailer page |
| Ireland delivery check | ToolFix advertises free delivery on eligible orders over €100, subject to terms | McMahons asks for your postcode for delivery or a branch for collection; check actual charges |
For 23–35 mm pipe, only the Knipex page states a matching diameter range here; still verify material and wall thickness. For 3–5 mm pipe, only the Stanley title states a matching range; confirm the pipe material with McMahons. For 6–22 mm, both state a matching diameter, but diameter alone does not establish suitability. Do not infer identical performance from these listings.
